A Beach Wedding In Cyprus

Open water, warm light, and the sound of the sea as you say “I do”.

Cyprus is built for beach weddings. The coastline is varied enough to feel new each time — soft golden sands on the east coast, dramatic white limestone cliffs around Sea Caves, sheltered coves on the west. The sea stays warm into October. The light in the hour before sunset is, by consensus, some of the best in the Mediterranean.

What makes us different is how we plan around the coast. Weighted styling so nothing blows. Shaded arrival spaces so guests are comfortable. Registrars who are familiar with the venue so the ceremony actually starts on time. A Plan B for weather that respects the aesthetic as much as Plan A. All of it quietly handled.

Three Coasts, Three Feelings

Not all Cyprus beaches are alike.

West — Paphos coast

Rugged limestone, sea caves, sheltered coves. The west is where you go for dramatic, cinematic backdrops and a sense of quiet. Atlantida sits on a private beachfront. OZEA and the Sea Caves offer some of the most photographed coastal ceremony points on the island.

South — Paphos to Limassol

Golden sand, gentle shelf, reliable shallow water. The south coast is the easiest place in Cyprus for guests with mobility concerns — soft approach, shaded terraces close by, and a choice of resort infrastructure if you want hotel blocks for wedding parties.

East — Ayia Napa & Protaras

The clearest water on the island and the softest white sand. Thalassines, Sirenes and Agia Thekla sit along this stretch. It's also where we plan many of our exclusive-hire private beach weddings for larger groups.

What A Beach Wedding Looks Like

The rhythm of the day, by the sea.

Beach weddings move differently. The light dictates the schedule. Here's how a typical day flows — adjusted, of course, to your vision and group.

Micro Weddings
01

Late afternoon preparation

Most beach ceremonies begin between 5pm and 6pm to catch golden-hour light. The bridal suite, styling and florals are set earlier in the day — cooler, calmer, easier on everyone.

02

Ceremony on the sand

Aisle weighted and styled, chairs angled to the sea, ceremony table and arch set. Guests arrive 30 minutes ahead for cold drinks in the shade. Ceremony typically runs 20-30 minutes.

03

Portraits at golden hour

A guided 25-minute portrait window right after the ceremony, while the light is extraordinary. Your photographer and planner handle the flow — you simply enjoy it.

04

Dinner, speeches, dancing

Reception moves to a dining terrace, private garden, or covered marquee. Canapés and cocktails as the sun sets, seated dinner, speeches, and dancing under festoons with the sea still in the background.

Frequently Asked

Planning a Cyprus beach wedding — what couples want to know.

Seven of the most common questions we answer by email. If yours isn't here, send it over — we reply to every enquiry personally.

Can we legally get married on a beach in Cyprus?

Yes — and it is genuinely straightforward. Civil marriages in Cyprus can be performed by a registrar almost anywhere on the island, including directly on the beach at licensed venues, on private beachfronts attached to resorts, and at venue-controlled shoreline ceremony points. Where a location is public and unlicensed we arrange a symbolic ceremony at the beach and the legal signing separately — usually the morning before. Our Legal Assistance service handles the paperwork either way.

What is the best beach in Cyprus to get married on?

It depends on what you want. For private, polished beachfronts with full venue infrastructure we recommend Atlantida in Paphos, Thalassines Beach in Ayia Thekla, and Sirenes Beach in Sotira. For golden-sand ceremonies with classic backdrops, Agios Georgios Beach on the west coast and Faros Beach with its lighthouse are beautiful. For dramatic, cinematic coastline, nothing beats the White Cliffs at Sea Caves, Peyia, or the OZEA beach set-up at Sea Caves.

When is the best time for a beach wedding in Cyprus?

Late May through to mid-October is the classic beach-wedding window — warm, dry and dependable. For the softest light and the most comfortable ceremony temperature we love early June and mid-September. July and August are workable but we strongly recommend 5pm+ sunset ceremonies to avoid midday heat on the sand. Shoulder months (April and late October) work beautifully for smaller, more intimate beach ceremonies.

How much does a beach wedding in Cyprus cost?

A beach elopement or micro-wedding for up to 20 guests typically starts around €3,500-€6,000 including ceremony styling, registrar, basic florals and photography. A mid-sized beachfront wedding for 40-80 guests usually sits between €12,000 and €25,000 with full styling and dining. Private beachfront venues with exclusive hire for larger celebrations can range from €30,000 to €70,000+. We build a transparent budget early — no hidden supplier mark-ups.

What about wind, sand and shoes?

Sea breezes are real, which is why we plan for them. We build ceremony set-ups with weighted aisle styling, lower floral arrangements that won't topple, and paper pieces (place cards, menus) properly anchored. Flat or chunky-heel shoes work best on sand for guests, and we usually suggest the wedding party walk the aisle barefoot or in sandals and change for the reception. We've run hundreds of beach weddings — the coastal practicalities are completely solvable.

Can we have the reception on the beach too, or do we move?

Both are possible. Venues like Atlantida, Thalassines and Cavo Zoe have dining terraces directly behind the ceremony beach, so guests simply walk from sand to seated dinner. For ceremonies on public beaches (Faros, Agia Thekla, Agios Georgios) we usually move to a nearby restaurant, villa or resort for dinner — keeping the journey short and the mood continuous.

Do you provide shade and backup plans for beach weddings?

Always. Every beach ceremony we plan has a documented weather plan: an indoor or covered alternative within the same venue, or a close-by tented option. For summer beach weddings we routinely add guest fans, parasols, hydration stations and shaded pre-ceremony cocktail spaces. The goal is a guest experience that feels effortless, not endured.
